Google accounts
Signing in creates a saved website account using your Google account identifier, name, and email address. We verify Google’s sign-in response on the server. We do not receive your Google password or request access to Gmail, contacts, or Drive. Google also processes sign-in information under its own privacy policy.
Votes, comments, and ideas
We store your vote with your account to limit repeat voting and show your private vote history. Individual votes and emails are not published. Aggregate results are published after each poll closes. Approved comments show your Google name and optional profile photo. Each account can submit one comment on each weekly focus post, including comments awaiting review or declined. Your submitted ideas, name, and email are available privately to Jordan for review and may be included in email notifications to him. You choose what to submit; please omit sensitive personal information.
Optional profile photos
You may upload, replace, or remove a profile photo in My account. The browser makes a square JPEG thumbnail before upload; we store that thumbnail, not the original file. It is publicly visible beside your approved comments and accessible through its image link. Removing it stops serving the stored image, though copies saved by other people cannot be recalled. We do not import your Google photo automatically.
Cookies and service providers
Essential, secure session cookies keep you signed in for up to seven days. A short-lived sign-in cookie helps prevent unauthorized login requests. Sign out to end your current website session; this does not sign you out of Google. Hosting and database services process the information needed to run the website. Configured email providers process submission notifications. Short-lived request limits use hashed network identifiers to reduce abuse. No advertising or visitor analytics are built into this feature.
Retention and choices
Account information, vote records, submissions, comments, and published updates are retained to operate the community and preserve its discussion history unless removed following review or a privacy request. Expired sessions and request-limit records are periodically cleared. You can browse public pages without a community account. Signing in does not subscribe you to campaign marketing.
